Alumni Appeal
The focus of the Alumni Appeal is on Bishop Amat’s alumni and alumni parents. It is our hope that this appeal will entice our graduates back to their alma mater. Through the generosity of our alumni, we will continue to meet the ever-changing needs of our students by providing them with the best education possible. Donations to the Alumni Appeal may be made at any time. A letter is mailed to all alumni and their families in the fall to kick-off the Annual Alumni Appeal.
Donation categories include:
- Scholarships to current students
- Scholarships to future students through the newly established endowment fund
- Funding for the retreat program
- Funding for the increased use of technology in our classrooms
Annual Fund: Ensuring the Lancer Tradition
The Annual Fund (unrestricted gifts) is an important part of our school’s operating budget and an investment in our students learning environment. Like most Catholic schools, the tuition at Bishop Amat High School is less than the cost to educate a student. Donations to the Annual Fund help to offset the difference between this “Tuition Gap”.
The Annual Fund provides an opportunity for each member of the Amat Family to support Bishop Amat High School. With broad participation by parents, faculty, grandparents, alumni and friends, we demonstrate that we are in this together–that we can and will make a difference and that sustaining the educational programs at Bishop Amat High School is of utmost importance. Donations to this Fund make it possible for the school to continue to operate, keeping tuition at a minimum, allowing all families who share our religious and educational values to avail of an education in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.
Annual Fund contributions are utilized “where the need is the greatest.” In the past, these areas have included financial aid for qualified students, state-of-the-art technology in the classrooms, and the retreat program.

A donation to the Endowment will help to ensure that Bishop Amat remains financially accessible to families of modest means. Initially, interest earned from the invested funds will be used to provide financial aid to families struggling to meet their tuition obligations to the school.
Capital and Major Gifts
Capital gifts play an important role in the implementation of the strategic plan of Bishop Amat High School. There are a variety of benefits to a donors for making a gift.
In the spring of 2008, Bishop Amat High School unveiled its Master Plan for the next fifty years. A capital campaign to fund Phase One (Performing Arts Center) will begin during the 2018-2019 school year. The cost of Phase One will be approximately $13,000,000. Naming opportunities will be made available to donors to this campaign.
Endowed Scholarship Funds
Building Bishop Amat High School’s Endowed Scholarship Fund vital to our school. As our student body continues to be ethnically and economically diverse and the cost of education continues to rise, the need for financial assistance will always be of concern. It is paramount to our mission to provide education to those who seek it. Establishing a named or memorial endowed scholarships will aid Bishop Amat in its efforts to keep our tuition affordable.
A scholarship may be named to memorialize a deceased family member or friend, or to honor a living family member(s), alumnus or friend. It may also be named for a teacher, corporation or organization. The interest earned on the invested principal provides tuition scholarships to our students. Endowed Scholarships are named by the person(s) who establish the fund. The recommended base gift for the establishment of a scholarship fund is $25,000. Additional gifts of any amount may be made at any time. The scholarship fund should have the ability to grow to a minimum of $50,000 over a period of five years.

Parent Pledge Program
The increasing cost of operating and maintaining Bishop Amat High School’s programs and facilities now exceed what the school charges in tuition and receives from other fundraising activities. To help close this financial gap, Bishop Amat High School expects all parents to participate in the Parent Pledge Program by making a tax-deductible pledge for their child in the amount of $1,680 over the four-years that their child is a student at the school. Freshman parents make this pledge when they register their student for the 9th grade. This amount is normally achieved by making 48 payments of $35 each.
Families who qualify for or receive serious consideration for financial aid will be asked to participate at a level commensurate with their particular financial situation.
Unlike tuition, your gifts to the Parent Pledge Program are 100 percent tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
