Wrestling

The Bishop Amat Wrestling program offers a rich legacy of success and a commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes. Open to both boys and girls, the program is guided by a dedicated coaching staff with extensive experience at every level of the sport. Coach Javi Maldonado, a CIF champion and college standout, brings years of coaching expertise, including leading Amat’s 2019 back-to-back CIF championship team. Coach Tony Gonzales, with over 40 years of coaching experience and recognition as San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year, now leads the girls' wrestling team, having previously been part of a state championship program. Alumni coaches Adrian Rios and Julian Mares share a deep connection to Amat, having competed on the 2018 and 2019 CIF championship teams, and now mentor the next generation of wrestlers. The staff is further strengthened by Coach Anthony Valencia, a former state and national champion who contributes invaluable expertise.

With a history of excellence and an inclusive, supportive environment, the Bishop Amat Wrestling program is a cornerstone of athletic and personal development for its student-athletes.
