Amanda Kamekona - Head Varsity Coach
Bishop Amat High School would like to welcome Ms. Amanda Kamekona as she was named Head Softball program coach. Ms. Kamekona will be teaching the Physical Education Softball classes. Ms. Kamekona brings years of softball coaching experience. Coach Kamekona served as an Assistant Coach at LIMESTONE COLLEGE in Gaffney, SC, was the head coach at BREVARD COLLEGE in Brevard, NC and led the National Pro' Fastpitch (NPF) team to a 3 X NATIONAL CHAMPION in 2015 , 2016, 2017.
A two-year member of the UCLA softball program in 2008 and 2009, Kamekona had a stellar career in Los Angeles as she earned a pair of NFCA Third-Team All-America selections. After joining the Bruins following two years at Cal State Fullerton, the native of Chino Hills, Calif. helped lead the team to a 96-20 overall record, a Women’s College World Series appearance and a pair of NCAA Super Regionals. Ms. Kamekona holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA and a pair of Associate of Arts degrees in Social and Behavioral Science and Transfer Studies from Mt. San Antonio College.
Coach Kamekona is excited and looking forward to bringing her experience, success and can do attitude to the softball program.
Ernest Rodriguez - Assistant Coach
Coach Rodriguez aspires to be a good role model to the community of Bishop Amat and positively impact the lives of his players under his care.
Chad Cordero - Assistant Coach
Coach Cordero was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 26th round of the 200 MLB draft, but he chose to enroll at Cal State Fullerton, where he was a standout reliever. With an ERA of under 1.83 he made the 1st team All-America Freshman team and was selected to the Big West All-Conference team, the latter of which he repeated in each of his next two years. In 2003, he was the Fullerton Regional MVP (College World Series), and then was drafted by the Expos in the 1st round (20th overall). Coach Cordero played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Montreal Expos / Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners. He is thrilled being part of the Lancer coaching staff and will bring his years of experience to assist the Lady Lancer softball student athletes.
Sabrina Anguiano - Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Anguiano is an alum of Bishop Amat's Class of 2013. While she attended Amat, she was a Varsity starter in the circle. Anguiano threw 34 shutouts in three seasons at Bishop Amat, won Del Rey League three years in a row, led Bishop Amat to a 22-5 record and 12-0 Del Rey Conference her senior year. She compiled 18 wins with a 1.15 ERA and 108 strikeouts and threw 13 shutouts her senior year. Anguiano also threw a perfect game her junior season, in which she was 21-3 with a 1.09 ERA, striking out 181 in 173 innings… She was a two-time Most Valuable Pitcher of the Del Rey Conference... Anguiano is also a Hall of Fame Inductee.
Anguiano then went on to continue her softball career at Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach Florida, where she was the starting pitcher all 4 years. She earned the accolades of 2014, 2015 All-MEAC Tournament Team, as well as 2015 ALL-MEAC First Team and 2015 MEAC Pitcher of the Year. In 2016 and 2017, she was ALL-MEAC Second Team. During her Freshman year, Anguiano recorded the second-highest strikeouts in a single-game in program history. Later her Junior year, she set a new record for most strikeouts in a single game. After graduating from Bethune Cookman with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology degree, she went on to be a Graduate Assistant/Pitching Coach for Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. There, she graduated with her Master’s in Education.
