Joseph Hoggatt - Head Baseball Coach
Mr. Hoggatt comes to Bishop Amat as an experienced and successful Division I high school varsity baseball coach with thirteen consecutive CIF playoff appearances, six league championships, and two trips to CIF finals. Thirteen of Coach Hoggatt's student/athletes have gone on to play at the Division I college level. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Mr. Hoggatt will serve as a full-time member of the faculty.
Gabe Carmona - Assistant Coach
Coach Carmona was a three year letter award winner at El Rancho HS where he earned All League and All San Gabriel Valley honors. He continued playing at Cerritos College earning an Associates Degree. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from National University. Coach Carmona is responsible for conditioning and the summer baseball program at Amat. He also was the head coach of the summer baseball team for Masters College.
Aaron Hernandez, Junior Varsity Head Coach
Mr. Hernandez is a graduate of Bishop Amat, class of 1995 where he lettered in football and baseball. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State Fullerton and teaches in the Math department at Bishop Amat.
Duke DeFrates, Varsity Assistant Coach
A Michigan native and studied at Long Beach State, While spending 15 years as an Industrial Engineer at McDonnell-Douglas, Duke is in his 4th decade of coaching youth and high school baseball in the San Gabriel Valley, founding the West Covina Dukes travel ball club in 1989, as well as becoming the Bishop Amat Freshman Baseball coach that same year. With 7 years of freshman baseball, 3 years varsity assistant and Mechanical Drafting Teacher, Duke retired from Amat but continued his Dukes travel baseball program to this day. Duke considers his return to the Bishop Amat Baseball Program the second highest honor of his coaching career: right after experiencing the success of his former student/athletes and seeing them take up the coaching/teaching mantle themselves.
