February 2026 Parent Newsletter

Message from the President

Dear Lancer Moms and Dads,

I hope the second semester is off to a great start for all Amat families, especially for our newest families of transfer students who have joined us this past month!  With the arrival of February, we turn our attention to planning for the 2026–2027 school year while continuing to navigate a very full and active final four months of the current year.

Current sophomores have already begun the course registration process for next year, with freshmen and juniors to follow shortly. In addition to selecting courses, completion of the registration process requires payment of the $950 (unchanged from the current school year) registration fee which is billed in two parts for the convenience of families. The Registration Fee – Part I, in the amount of $400 per student, will be added to all families’ FACTS accounts on February 4. This non-refundable fee signifies a commitment to enroll your student for the 2026–2027 school year and is due by March 13, 2026. The Registration Fee – Part II, totaling $550, will be due in June.

Additional expenses specific to select students include  AP/IB examination fees and for parents of seniors, the 2026 graduation fee. A complete list of upcoming charges and corresponding payment dates is available via the hyperlink below and is also included as an attachment in Mr. Escovar’s February 1 weekly email.

Lastly, with the season of Lent beginning this month, all parents are welcome to join us for Ash Wednesday Mass on February 18.

With sincere gratitude to our moms and dads for your continued partnership and support, I wish you a wonderful February.

Sincerely,
Mr. Beck

2026-2027 Course Registration

The registration process for sophomores has concluded, and the process with current juniors will begin on February 12 in homeroom. Their completed and signed forms are due March 6. Finally, counselors will visit freshman homerooms on March 4 (forms due March 26).

As a reminder, counselors will meet with students individually to discuss which classes they might want to take and to ensure they meet the prerequisites for those classes. However, it is up to the student and parents to choose courses and alternate classes that may be needed to resolve conflicts when schedules are finalized. Both parents and students must sign the registration form before submitting it to the student’s counselor.

Both Boys' and Girls' teams are 2026 League Champs! The boys won the Mission League Championship title and the girls were Champions of the Almont League.  Next up for each are the CIF Dual Prelims and Championships! Good luck to them as they represent Amat well.

Boys Basketball
Our boys basketball team is in a fight for the Camino Real title. The league title will be decided in the last game against Bishop Montgomery. Our program sports a 22-4 record and 5-1 in league. They are currently ranked #95 in California by MaxPreps and #7 in the SGV Tribune rankings.

Campus Ministry

Emmaus Retreat (Juniors) - Save The Date

The last opportunity for our Juniors to go on Emmaus will be March 10 - 12, 2026.  The Emmaus retreat, held up in Silverado, is a transformative three-day spiritual journey modeled after the biblical story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Ultimately, Emmaus offers our juniors the opportunity to reflect on where they are spiritually and develop the confidence to know that they never walk their life’s journey alone.

CARITAS SERVICE RETREAT

On Thursday, February 19 and Thursday, February 26, our sophomores will have their Caritas Service Retreat at the LA Foodbank where they will prepare and assemble food boxes for those in need.

Parents who are Virtus certified are welcome to volunteer and chaperone.  If interested in earning some parent hours in this capacity,  please contact Mr. Kasilag at bkasilag@bishopamat.org.

Christian Service

Christian Service Update

There will be a Christian Service assembly on Wednesday, February 11 as a mid-year check on students' Christian Service hours progress. This is crucial for all students, but especially for our seniors who need at least 80 hours of properly verified service hours as part of their graduation requirements.

Spring Food Drive

The Math Department is sponsoring our Spring Food Drive to help local charitable organizations.  This drive runs during the entire month of February.  This is a great way for students to earn valuable Christian Service hours, as well as help those in our local community.

Family Ministry

Family Virtue Discussions

Virtue Spotlight: Responsibility
Definition:
The strength to take ownership of one’s actions, fulfill duties, and make choices in accordance with God’s will.

Suggested Reflection-Discussion Questions:
1. Why is responsibility essential in our faith journey and personal growth?
2. How can we cultivate responsibility in our daily lives?
3. How can we show responsibility to each other in our family?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help our family to grow in the virtue of responsibility by striving to follow your will each day.  Amen.

Reminder! Parent Hours are due by April 30.

Earn Development Hours

During this time of year we have a few Development opportunities to help us fundraise, including the Maui Raffle Tickets and Golf Tee Signs Committees. Please stop by the Development Office for more information or contact Lucy Rios at lrios@bishopamat.org or (626) 498-0398.

Golf Tee Sponsorships

Support the Golf Tournament and earn parent hours through sponsorships:

  • Purchase 2 Tee Sponsorships: Earn 10 Development Hours

  • Purchase 3 Tee Sponsorships: Earn 10 Development Hours + 20 Regular Hours (30 total hours)

Proceeds benefit Bishop Amat Tuition Assistance.

After purchasing, please submit logo artwork or a special message for your tee sign to Citlalli Prado: cprado@bishopamat.org by April 29, 2026

Sell Maui Raffle Tickets

  • Sell 30 raffle tickets ($600 total sales)

  • Earn all 30 required parent hours
    (10 Development + 20 Regular Hours)

Those 30 hours are normally valued at $800, so you effectively save $200 while directly supporting Bishop Amat fundraising.

Join the Golf Committee

Volunteer to help make the tournament a success. Committee members assist with:

  • Selling golf tee signs

  • Selling Maui raffle tickets

  • Securing silent auction items

Deliveries & Special Activities Reminders

Per school policy, the school does not accept any food, balloons, flowers or other items delivered to the school in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day or other special day.  Nor do we allow any food deliveries either in person by parents or via food apps during the school day.  We thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation.

Additionally, on special activity or picnic days, early dismissal requests will not be approved and processed unless the parent/legal guardian comes to campus to personally make the request.  This includes the parent/legal guardian of any student driver.  Phone call or email requests will not be accepted either.  There will be no exceptions to this policy.   Please note that we have such an event scheduled on Friday, February 13.  Your cooperation and understanding are much appreciated!
