The Pep Squad supports most Amat athletic teams and works with other organizations on campus to represent the school in a supportive and positive manner. The Pep Squad consists of a JV Cheer Squad, JV Song Squad, Varsity Cheer Squad and a Varsity Song Squad.
The Pep program runs year round with short vacation breaks in the summer-time, during Christmas vacation and also Easter vacation. Pep Squad members have Pep responsibilities about three to six days per week depending upon the sport season and if they are on a competing team. Competitions take place during the months of December through March.
There are separate try-outs for these competition teams which take place in August. All competition team members are expected to take classes (tumbling, dance technique, etc.) outside of Pep Squad to continually improve upon and advance their skills.
Pep Squad try-outs for the upcoming year are held in April and those new squads begin practicing right away in May. A Pep Squad member must maintain a GPA of at least a 2.0 and should be prepared to enroll in the official Pep Squad P.E. class during the school year.
Lastly, all Amat Pep Squad members must understand that they will not be allowed to hold a place on any other Amat performance group or athletic team, due to the demanding Pep schedule and on-going Pep obligations.
