Posse Foundation Awards Senior Student

Senior Irazu Hernandez (front row, second from the left) was awarded a full tuition scholarship through the Posse Foundation on Wednesday January 4, 2017 at a ceremony in Downtown Los Angeles. The foundation partners with various universities across the country and awards full tuition scholarships to individuals they feel exemplify extraordinary academic and leadership potential. After a three month long application and interview process, Irazu was selected from a pool of over 17,000 applicants nationwide.

Next fall she has committed to attending Northwestern University in Chicago as an Economics major.

Irazu is the prime example of what it means to be a scholar at Bishop Amat. As a member of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, she has pushed herself academically by maximizing her schedule with IB and AP courses, serving as Pep Squad captain, holding a part time job, in addition to meeting the rigorous demands of the IB Diploma Program. Congratulations to Irazu Hernandez on all her accomplishments so far. We know there are many more to come.
